Balance & Vestibular Testing

Comprehensive, evidence-based balance evaluations designed to identify the cause of dizziness, vertigo, and unsteadiness.

Balance testing begins with a comprehensive vestibular evaluation by an audiologist.

Understanding the Complex Nature of Balance

Balance depends on coordination between three systems, all integrated by the brain:

  • Vestibular System: Inner ear structures that detect motion and gravity
  • Visual System: Visual input that helps orient you in space
  • Proprioception: Sensory feedback from muscles and joints

When these systems send conflicting information, symptoms such as dizziness, vertigo, or unsteadiness can occur. Our goal is to identify which system is contributing to your symptoms and why.

Our Diagnostic Approach:
Beyond the Label

Rather than labeling symptoms as “just dizziness,” we focus on identifying the underlying cause. Balance testing involves the ears, eyes, and brain, which is why our evaluations are comprehensive and objective.

Testing is non-invasive, and we explain each step before beginning so you feel informed and supported throughout the process.
